Natural marble brings something to furniture that manufactured surfaces cannot reproduce exactly. Every slab has its own veining, markings and changes in tone, so choosing marble furniture means accepting — and appreciating — a certain amount of natural variation.

Understanding what to look for before you order can make it much easier to choose a piece that works for your home.

Start with the marble itself

Marble is a natural stone, which means no two pieces will have exactly the same pattern.

Some areas may have pronounced veining, while others are quieter. Colour can also shift across the surface, with variations in tone and markings appearing naturally within the stone.

Product photography should therefore be treated as a guide to the overall appearance of the furniture rather than an exact representation of the marble you will receive.

Consider colour as well as pattern

When choosing marble furniture, it can be tempting to concentrate entirely on the veining. The overall colour of the stone is just as important.

Think about the flooring, walls, wood tones and other materials already in the room. The marble doesn't need to match them exactly. Instead, consider whether the colours sit comfortably alongside one another.
